POLITICAL GAMES BEING PLAYED IN PAKISTAN

Silence is a wonderful teacher; you can learn a lot when you listen to and contemplate on the sounds of silence.  I sometimes like to go out, away from urban areas, to natural surroundings, where I can listen to natural sounds and listen to the silence. It is a wonderful experience to connect with nature. I feel, if all the doctors prescribed their patients to regularly walk in countryside parks, this will have countless benefits for the mind and body and it will help reduce the increasing burden on the healthcare budgets. One day while I was enjoying my moments of silence in the park, I heard the sound of some feathers ruffling in the water nearby. When I went behind the trees to inquire, I saw Mithu having a bath in a small stream. Mithu is an old friend, a beautiful Indian Ringneck P...

THE SELF-IMMOLATION OF CAPITALISM

The Western ruling elite and the rulers of their vassal states in the Middle East seem to be paralysed by fear. They no longer even pretend to have any real creative thinking. And since these rulers’ thinking is obsessively grounded on fear, their domestic and international policies are also centered on fear. They foresee and fear the collapse of the system, the capitalist system. The fact is; a hundred years of controlling the Middle East is coming to an end. It is very likely that the Middle East will be the graveyard for the usury system and capitalism, which the global elite have used to enslave the masses. The American empire is the last of its kind. Its demise will be an end of an era. In its early days, the American elite benefited the most from the traditional form of slavery to b...

GAZA: THE PRISON, THE SINAI AND THE OFFSHORE GAS DEPOSITS

I do not think any of us in the West can comprehend the true meaning of the word ‘freedom’ like those living in Gaza can. We take our freedom and liberty for granted, whilst those living in Gaza are prisoners in their own land.  Being born a Palestinian is in itself a crime it seems; the punishment is in the shape of attending the funerals of your children killed by Israeli snipers hiding behind huge towers on a regular basis. Nobody is spared. A disabled man in a wheelchair, a double amputee, Ibrahim Abu Thurayeh, was not shown any mercy and was shot in the head by an Israeli sniper while he protested, in December of 2017. He died instantaneously. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan recently lashed out against Israel, calling it a ‘terrorist state’ that ‘kills children.’ The Nobel Lau...

THE DUPLICITOUS OUT OF AFRICA THEORY

Man has forever been apprehensive about his biggest and main flaw; the fragility of life. Thus, he has always desired immortality. However, the realities of life are such that one must face death sooner or later. Death brings with it the inevitable erasure of the person's identity and worldly achievements. In order to get around this painful dilemma, some have managed to leave their legacies, like the pharaohs who made the pyramids and Julius Caesar who named a month after himself. Due to the nature of deaths after effects we detest being meager and want to be big and colossal in magnitude, so that we may live until eternity in any way possible. Probably this is the reason; why we create empires? I have argued in a previous article, To Rejuvenation And Total Restoration, that: “An empir...

WHEN CIVILISATIONS PEAK AND PLATEAU

It is the visionaries who inspire their nations towards a path to greatness, while the inept and the corrupt leaders drain the resources with their delusions of grandiose and their irresistible appetite for megalomania. During the early and rising phase of the civilisation, the rulers are mindful of their integrity and are patriotic and compassionate. Then, while civilisation is at its peak, a transition takes place; thereafter each new leader takes the nation further and deeper towards a weaker position. The society during the rising phase of the civilisation is restrained, i.e. justice, moral behaviour, tolerance and cohesiveness are promoted. Creativity, inventions and innovations, as well as knowledge of sciences, are all considered vital for the lifeblood of the nation. In contrast...

THE INEVITABLE SELF-DESTRUCTION OF EMPIRES

Strangely, it was the Roman citizens who breathed the biggest sigh of relief when the declining Roman Empire (27 BC – 1453 AD) finally collapsed. Perhaps this is true for most empires. The burden of an aging empire is painful for those unfortunates who have to endure it; they wish that it be gone quietly. When an empire is crumbling and they usually do so from within first, the ruling elite becomes more corrupt, demand more taxes from the poor and fresh blood for more wars. The famous historian Edward Gibbon in his book “History Of The Decline And Fall Of The Roman Empire” has identified four main reasons that contributed to the collapse of the Roman Empire. 1. The empire became too big and costly 2. The Roman elite were plundering the wealth 3. Roman barbarians were attacking and exp...

THE PANDIT, THE PARASITES AND THE PARROT

Every moment somewhere on earth a miracle happens. It is said that if you believe in miracles then you will see them happening. I am a believer in miracles. I am going to share with you a story about a miracle. On one winter afternoon, as we arrived back from a shopping trip, in the corner of our garden, beside a wall we saw a bird, struggling to fly but facing difficulty lifting its weight. It was a beautiful Indian Ringneck Parakeet, a rare bird for this part of the world, usually seen in Asian countries. The broken wing made it easy to capture. We decided to help the bird and nurse it back to health. During the course we discovered that it was originally from India. It was a very intelligent parrot and a proficient speaker. Mithu had vocabulary of over a thousand words. It’s name was...

PERENNIAL PROSPERITY ELUDES PAKISTAN

The most powerful and enduring ideas also happen to be the oldest. Ideas like justice, unity and genuine democracy, ideas which have stood the test of time. The secret of a civilisation's success as well as their rise and fall are interlinked with these very same values. This is confirmed in the Islamic holy book Quran and Allah says: "Indeed, Allah will not change the condition of a people until they change what is in themselves" (chapter 13, verse 11). That statement, however, did not come true for Pakistan. Pakistan’s economy improved significantly between the years 2000 and 2007 and Pakistan managed to reduce its external liabilities and debt by half; from 52% of GDP to 26% of GDP. THE WESTERN (MODERN) WORLD ENDS WHEN SUNNI ISLAM UNITES

There are laws that rule the world, and one of them is that when we are unified, nothing can stand in our way. We have seen in history countless times when this law – unification – pops up and shows its powers. At the moment, we have several examples of unification which equals power. The Han Chinese are unified, the Russians and Shias are unified, the Japanese are unified and lastly of course the Zionists and Jews are unified. In the case of the Jews, this unification is so strong and impressive that they have come to dominate and totally control the USA. In history, Genghis Khan, after realising the power of unification, swiftly combined the Mongol tribes and moved to conquer almost half the continent of Asia and subsequently changed the course of Asian geopolitics for centuries to co...

SADDAM TRIED (AND FAILED) TO UNITE THE ARABS WHILE G.W. BUSH HAS SUCCEEDED

As we enter 2009, I am realizing that George W. Bush has an important legacy. The ongoing culling of Palestinians in Gaza by the Israelis has convinced me that Bush has bequeathed to us something quite extraordinary. The massacres of Palestinians in Gaza are criminal, pure and simple. The Palestinians, of course have no way of defending themselves against the Israeli (“made in the USA”) bombs. My first instinct was to condemn Bush for his unconditional support of the Israeli war machine. But then I realized George Bush has been a godsend to the Palestinians and Arabs. Yes, he is a “friend” of the Arabs. I mean no disrespect to the over two million dead in Iraq and Afghanistan. Bush and his war party come close to being “war criminals.” They should and will be prosecuted one day for thei...
