A man in his 20s has died after being stabbed in the early hours of Wednesday morning in Catford, south-east London.

According to the Metropolitan Police, officers were called to Rushey Green shortly after 3:00 a.m. BST following reports of a stabbing. Emergency services, including paramedics from the London Ambulance Service, arrived at the scene and found the victim suffering from multiple stab wounds.
Despite receiving immediate medical attention at the scene, the man was later taken to the hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
The Met’s Specialist Crime Command (Homicide) has launched a murder investigation. Police have confirmed that no arrests have yet been made. Formal identification of the victim and a post-mortem examination will take place in the coming days.
The victim’s next of kin have been informed, and specialist officers are providing support to the grieving family.
Speaking about the incident, Borough Commander Trevor Lawry, who oversees policing in the area, expressed his condolences:
“Our thoughts go out to the family and friends of this young man, who has lost someone they love in such a tragic way. I understand the community will have concerns following this incident. A dedicated homicide team is currently working to piece together the events of this morning.”
He added that a crime scene remains in place on Rushey Green and is expected to stay cordoned off for several hours as detectives carry out forensic examinations.
Commander Lawry also urged witnesses to come forward:
“If you have any information, CCTV footage, or were in the area at the time, please speak to officers at the scene or contact the police directly. Your information could be vital in helping us understand what happened.”
Residents in the area have been advised to expect a heightened police presence as investigations continue.
