Probably, two regions in the world have been invaded more frequently than others, in my opinion. The area from the borders of Turkey to the borders of Egypt, in the old days this whole area was called Sham, it includes Damascus and Al Quds. The second area is EuroAsia, and this includes Ukraine. Maybe, this is the reason why Sir Halford John Mackinder, the British geographer, considered EuroAsia to be pivotal for the global rule of any empire. Thus, he coined the term Heartland. His thesis was that:
Who rules EuroAsia commands the Heartland
Who rules the Heartland commands the World-Island
Who rules the World-Island commands the world
Although his thesis has never been proven, many analysts consider his theory to be of importance. However, at the same time, there are allegations that Mr Putin might be taking Mackinder’s theory a bit too seriously. We will never know if that is true. What we do know is that the development we have witnessed for the past 500 years, is coming to an end. I have written about this in my article; The Five Hundred Years Circle Is Nearing Completion. - The schism in the Christian world results in the creation of the Anglican church in 1534”
Now, we are facing a similar global upheaval. Major geopolitical changes are taking place. New alliances are being made. The power is moving from the West to the east. The West is overburdened with debt and bankruptcy. The western economies are energy-hungry that they must import. Germany cannot decide on placing sanctions on Russian banks. Germany is one of the biggest importers of Russian gas. UK imports 3 to 4% of its gas from Russia. Placing any sanctions on Russia means destroying national economies first. America, on the other hand, is eager to sell gas and oil to its European partners at expensive rates.
The Europeans will pay a heavy price for the war in Ukraine. Poverty will increase considerably in the West. Mr Putin is determined to end the western hegemony. 500 years of development in the Western Hemisphere is witnessing the last episodes of its history. The new powers from the east, Russia, and China are playing a dominating role in leading development in Asia, Central Asia, and EuroAsia. I consider the war in Ukraine to be the spark. The spark that will burn down the old-world order. These wars will consume other regional players.
It would be insane to expect these wars to last less than a decade. Perhaps we need to prepare for prolonged economic and financially difficult times. The energy crisis in the West will only get worse as time passes. Prepare yourself mentally, physically, and financially. Stay blessed and stay safe.
