ALLIES TILL INTERESTS SHIFT ELSEWHERE

The Saudis and Pakistanis have finally decided to wash their dirty laundry in the open, in front of the world media. Pakistani rulers are demanding that the Saudis take a serious and strong stand on the issue of Kashmir and give clear statements through the OIC. Saudis have so far been reluctant to do so. At the same time, Saudis have stopped the supply of oil and also demanded the return of billions of dollars worth of loans given to Pakistan. Is this just a temporary glitch or a permanent chasm? Well, I think that they may finally split from each other gradually and the alliance will remain in name only. The reason for this is that both countries are facing an existential threat, both internal and external.  And it is these strategic threats that are forcing them to choose separate pa...

SAUDIS SABOTAGED MALAYSIA SUMMIT TO SAVE THE DOLLAR

The Muslim ummah is facing probably one of the worst periods in its entire history. The blame for this quagmire rests on the shoulders of the inept and corrupt leadership of the Muslims. Muslim leaders’ silence is deafening when it comes to oppression of Rohingyas, Kashmiris, Uighurs or Palestinians. One expects the leaders in Muslim countries to show some common sense and attempt to unite for the common cause i.e. safeguarding the wellbeing of all the Muslims. Sadly, the recent summit in Malaysia, intended to unite the major Muslim countries, has proven that Muslim leaders are incapable of uniting. The Saudi rulers decided to sabotage the Malaysia summit by forcing Pakistan to pull out of the summit meeting. The given reason that Saudis were concerned that the meeting could create a ne...

KASHMIR, THE HIDDEN AGENDAS

News and information in the media are of two types; the emotional broadcasts are for the gullible masses while analytical opinions for the well informed. The people in power, be they politicians, religious leaders or those in the film/drama business understand this fact very well. Hence the innocent are frequently exploited. We are emotional beings. When our minds become emotional we often fail to discern between propaganda and real news. Emotions make us vulnerable. Those who are masters in the art of deception appeal to our emotions. Sadly, there is nothing deceptive about the human catastrophes unfolding in Kashmir. Indian politicians’ vile rhetoric to kill and rape the Kashmiris is a sign of things to come. Indefinite round the clock curfew is intended to break the will of the peop...

MUD HOUSES, BREXIT AND DE-DOLLARIZATION

It is often said that we are doomed to keep repeating history until its lessons are learned. The laws of nature or if I may say the lessons nature is forced to teach are never pain-free. Seldom have we witnessed anyone go unpunished in the international arena for failing to learn from the past. The question I am pondering is, does each repeat become more or less painful. In one of my previous article, I have argued: “that the geopolitical position of Pakistan has been both a curse and a blessing.” This probably is its fate, being a curse and a blessing. Pakistan is a developing economy. In the 1950s and 1960s, most of the rural population lived in mud houses. Maintaining these mud houses was an arduous task. The occupants were required to check and repair any weakness or holes on roofs...

POLITICAL GAMES BEING PLAYED IN PAKISTAN

Silence is a wonderful teacher; you can learn a lot when you listen to and contemplate on the sounds of silence.  I sometimes like to go out, away from urban areas, to natural surroundings, where I can listen to natural sounds and listen to the silence. It is a wonderful experience to connect with nature. I feel, if all the doctors prescribed their patients to regularly walk in countryside parks, this will have countless benefits for the mind and body and it will help reduce the increasing burden on the healthcare budgets. One day while I was enjoying my moments of silence in the park, I heard the sound of some feathers ruffling in the water nearby. When I went behind the trees to inquire, I saw Mithu having a bath in a small stream. Mithu is an old friend, a beautiful Indian Ringneck P...

BRAIN POWER SURGES IN PAKISTAN

The laws of nature are powerful and definitive. One of the most important and most fundamental is the regeneration process, the regeneration of life. In the absence of regeneration, we inevitably undergo degeneration. The brain is no exception to this law of nature. It too undergoes a regeneration process to stay fit and alive. Cells are created, recreated and renewed in the brain regularly as the brain configures and reconfigures.  This configuration and reconfiguration thesis regarding the brain has been presented and discussed by Thomas Pochari at www.worldaffairsmonthly.com. Pochari has rightly argued that configuration and reconfiguration process is paramount to the restoration and functioning of the brain at optimum levels. Humanity’s future and destiny lies in a fully functioning...
